Neuropsychiatric symptoms education video series

Overview

Aiming to help patients and family caregivers better understand and manage neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS) associated with Alzheimer’s disease, the Alliance for Aging Research launched an educational campaign featuring a series of videos addressing behavioral and psychological changes that can be challenging for patients and their families.

My role

I led the creative direction and video production across three phases of the initiative, using different storytelling approaches to make complex medical information accessible and practical for caregivers.

Phase 1

2021 · Educational explainer

Produced an animated educational video introducing neuropsychiatric symptoms and their impact on people living with Alzheimer’s disease.

Phase 2

2023 · Expert, Patient & Caregiver Perspectives

Produced a video series featuring a clinician, family caregivers, and patient advocates living with Alzheimer’s disease, combining expert insights with personal experiences.

Phase 3

2025 · Symptom-focused education

Produced a series of educational videos addressing six common neuropsychiatric symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, featuring a nationally recognized gerontological nurse practitioner.

Challenge

  • Simplify complex medical information for family caregivers.
  • Address sensitive topics with empathy and clarity.
  • Balance clinical expertise with relatable, human-centered storytelling.
  • Maintain consistent educational messaging across multiple video series.

Result

  • 2022 Gold Telly Award for the educational explainer video.
  • Delivered three phases of educational video content spanning five years.
  • Produced diverse video formats combining animation, clinical expertise, and real-life caregiver experiences.
  • Supported the Alliance’s ongoing efforts to provide accessible educational resources for Alzheimer’s caregivers.

Phase 3 · 2025

Symptom-focused education

I led the creative direction and production of a six-part educational video series, Caring for a Loved One with Alzheimer’s Disease and Neuropsychiatric Symptoms, featuring interviews with a nationally recognized gerontological nurse practitioner.

The series covered six common symptoms: agitation, anxiety and depression, apathy, psychosis, sleep disturbances, and wandering. I combined expert interviews with engaging animations, bold typography, vibrant colors, and medical illustrations to make complex health information more accessible and engaging for caregivers and families.

I led the creative direction and production of a series of interview-based videos featuring medical experts, individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease, and family caregivers.

By combining clinical expertise with personal stories, the series highlighted the emotional impact of neuropsychiatric symptoms and the challenges families face. Through authentic storytelling, the videos aimed to build empathy, reduce stigma, and help caregivers feel more informed and supported.

Phase 1 · 2021

Educational explainer

I led the creative direction and production of Shake the Stigma of Neuropsychiatric Symptoms, an animated explainer video designed to introduce neuropsychiatric symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease to family caregivers.

Through engaging animation and visual storytelling, I helped simplify complex medical information, raise awareness, and reduce stigma surrounding these symptoms. The video won a 2022 Gold Telly Award in the Health & Safety category.
